WSOP 2018 Global Casino Championship Announced For August 7th-9th
The 14th season of the World Series of Poker Circuit will conclude with the third annual running of the WSOP Global Casino Championship, formerly known as the WSOP National Championship. This was announced this month that the event will once again take place at the Harrah’s Cherokee Casino Resort in North Carolina, which has hosted the Circuit’s season-ending event for four years now.
According to poker news the freeroll event features a $1 million guaranteed prize pool and will run from Aug. 7 – 9. Like in 2017, the tournament will take place amidst the first WSOP Circuit festival of the new season, a 12 gold-ring series of tournaments running from Aug. 2 – 13.
Harrah’s Cherokee is excited to continue to be a part of this summer tradition and the Global Casino Championship is a truly special event to welcome players from around the country as well as from around the world.
The WSOP Global Casino Championship
The WSOP Global Casino Championship is an official gold bracelet event that features a guaranteed prize pool of at least $1 million for players that qualify by winning a WSOPC main event or casino champion titles at any one of the many stops throughout the season. For the third year in a row, this event will also include players from the WSOP International Circuit events.
WSOP executive director Ty Stewart said that ten years ago they only had 12 Circuit stops and they were all in the U.S. They’re proud to have grown it to 39 stops in 11 different countries and the Global Casino Championship at Harrah’s Cherokee exists to put the best of the best in the same room to see who comes out on top.
He said that they will continue to work hard to make the World Series of Poker the biggest and best poker tournaments to play all around the world.
All players who have earned an automatic entry will receive a $500 travel stipend and three nights at Harrah’s Cherokee Casino Resort, plus one additional night for anyone making the final table or for international participants.
The top 100 players in the WSOP Player of the Year rankings from 2017 also have the opportunity to buy into the Global Casino Championship directly for $10,000. The rankings are compiled based on players’ performance in WSOP gold bracelet events in 2017. Players can confirm their eligibility by checking this leaderboard. In addition, for the third year in a row, any player who won an official ring event on the WSOP Circuit this season also has the option to buy into the Global Casino Championship directly for $10,000 as well. Players who buy in will have their $10,000 directly added to the prize pool rake-free along with the $1 million being put up by the WSOP.
For anyone interested in trying to win their way into this event, there is still time. There are seven stateside WSOP Circuit stops remaining and five international stops. The domestic stops include Atlantic City, Tulsa, Planet Hollywood, Omaha/Council Bluffs, Cherokee, Baltimore and New Orleans. The International Circuit stops remaining on this season’s schedule include Czech Republic, France, Italy and Russia.
Also to add 49th Annual World Series of Poker will take place from May 29 – July 17, 2018 and there will 78 Official Gold Bracelet Events the main event will be from July 2-14, 2018.
